Dr. Curry-Winchell obtained her medical degree at Ross University and completed her residency at the University of Nevada Reno Family Medicine, graduating in 2015. Dr. BCW is a board-certified, practicing physician. She is also the Medical Director of Community Engagement and Health Equity & Co-lead of DEIB for Carbon Health. Dr. BCW is also the Medical Director for Saint Mary’s Urgent Care Group in Reno, NV, and the Medical Director for the Washoe County Sexual Assault Response Team and volunteers as an Assistant Medical Examiner for Washoe County Child Protective Services.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. BCW is a member of many boards. These include the Nevada Academy of Family Physicians, American Academy of Family Physicians, and a board member for the Washoe County Medical Society, Nevada State Medical Association, Centene Silver Summit, PBS, and University of Nevada Alumni.
Dr. Curry-Winchell stays highly active in the community. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. BCW joined the Reno Mayor’s task force and the governor’s Medical Advisory team. Heavily involved with local non-profits and charities, Dr. BCW is passionate and dedicated to caring for and improving her community while highlighting healthcare disparities. She has participated in and organized webinars, rallies, and public service announcements. Chiefly, Dr. BCW’s goal is to engage and advocate for community involvement.
Organizations frequently recognize Dr. BCW’s advocacy work. Accordingly, Nevada Business Magazine named her Healthcare Hero for 2022, awarded the Community Service award by Washoe County Medical Society for 2022, as well as named in the 2022 top 75 Black Healthcare Leaders to know by Beckers Hospital Review. She received NV’s Young Physician Award & Boundary Breaker from the American Academy of Family Physicians in 2021. In 2020 she was given the PBS Reno Spotlight Extraordinary Neighbor award.
Dr. Curry-Winchell is an active member of the Young Professionals Network, awarded one of 2018’s Top 20 under 40 Brightest Leaders in Reno-Tahoe. She was named the Sierra Nevada Top 20 Most Powerful Women in 2019 and participated in USA Today’s One Nation Health Care Panel in 2016. She has also had many local and national television appearances and writes for several publications. Dr. BCW and her husband enjoy life in Reno-Tahoe with their two young girls.
