Omega Phi Beta Ambassador

Dr. Bayo Curry-Winchell, Dr. BCW, a renowned medical professional, has been named an Omega Phi Beta Ambassador. Omega Phi Beta is a national, multicultural sorority that emphasizes academic excellence, community service, and sisterhood. The sorority also focuses on promoting women’s empowerment, leadership, and advocacy.

Dr. Curry-Winchell’s appointment as an ambassador is a testament to her commitment to academic excellence, community service, and women’s empowerment. As an ambassador, she will work to promote the sorority’s values and goals, including supporting women’s education, leadership, and advocacy.

Dr. Curry-Winchell’s work as a medical professional and community leader aligns with Omega Phi Beta’s values. She serves as the Medical Director of Community Engagement and Health Equity, Co-Lead of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging, and Medical Director of Urgent Care Clinics at Carbon Health and Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Reno, NV. She is also the founder of Beyond Clinical Walls.  A social media series that aims to provide health information to improve health literacy and reduce health inequities.

Additionally, Dr. Curry-Winchell volunteers as an assistant medical examiner at Washoe County Child Protective Services.  She also serves as the medical director of the Washoe County Sexual Assault Response Team. She also does speaking engagements that provide information on health inequities and their impact on marginalized communities.

Dr. Curry-Winchell’s contributions to the medical field and her commitment to community service make her an excellent choice as an Omega Phi Beta Ambassador. Her appointment further solidifies her reputation as a distinguished medical professional and community leader who is dedicated to promoting women’s empowerment, leadership, and advocacy.


Black Healthcare Leaders of 2023 – Dr. BCW

Dr. BCW, Dr. Curry-Winchell, named to the Becker’s Hospital Review’s list of 149 Black Healthcare Leaders to Know in 2023.

This is a great honor for Dr. BCW.  As a black female physician works hard to give back to her community and provide timely, understandable and accurate health information to everyone, especially the under served.

Dr. BCW is also the founder of Beyond Clinical Walls. This regular series aims to provide health information on social media to help improve health literacy and reduce health inequities and the medical director of the Washoe County Sexual Assault Response Team. She volunteers as an assistant medical examiner at Washoe County Child Protective Services, and during the COVID-19 pandemic, she joined the Reno Mayor’s Task Force and Governor’s Medical Advisory Team. Dr. BCW co-chairs the Nevada State Medical Association Equity and Diversity Committee. She participates in speaking engagements providing information on health inequities and their impact on marginalized communities’ health and lives. She serves on Silver Summit Healthplan and the Community Health Alliance boards.

Urgent Care Medical Director and Physician at Saint Mary’s Medical Group (Reno, Nev.). In addition to her position, Dr. Curry-Winchell volunteers as the assistant medical examiner with the Washoe County CARES program, where she examines victims of child abuse. She was also appointed the public relations chair for the Washoe County Medical Society. Dr. Curry-Winchell was named one of the Sierra Nevada Top 20 Most Powerful Women.

Dr. BCW, Dr. Curry-Winchell, is named to the Becker’s Hospital Review’s list of 75 Black Healthcare Leaders to Know in 2022.

This was a great honor for Dr. BCW who as a black female physician works hard to give back to her community and provide timely, understandable and accurate health information to everyone, especially the under served.
